Mario Puratić
(1917. – 1993.)
A Croatian inventor born on the island of Brač. After moving to America and working as a fisherman, he invented the f
1975. He received a special recognition from the U.S. Patent Office and was listed among the top 100 inventors of the 20th century, becoming the second Croatian to earn this distinction.
In his honor, his invention is featured on the Canadian five-dollar banknote.
